Direct to Film or DTF is a process that transfers prints onto fabric or other substrates using a heat-press mechanism. Unlike the DTG method, which only works on cotton fabrics, the Printer DTF method can work on cotton and poly blends. The DTF process is considered better in some regards than screen printing as it is very durable, doesn't crack and has a supeiror stetchability! Although the "feel" of the decoration is a bit different (NOTE - older DTF technology had a paper feel, this is NOT what we have at the JC shop - the newer DTF technology has a great feel and very close to screen printing)
1) You would provide us with a graphic - these graphics can be full color! (but you are limited to CMYK+White as currently our DTF printer does not offer neon colors)
2) We prepare your image and print it on the DTF unit. Your image is printed onto premium film papar that enhances the colors for DTF Printing.
3) Your newly printed film, in which the ink is still wet, has an adhesive powder shaken onto it.
4) Then after the powder is applied, we place it on a special heating unit that bonds the ink to the adhesive powder.
5) Once bonded - the film / graphic is ready to use on the garment!
Generally DTF is great for minimal runs, such as 1-20 pieces, and/or, your graphic you want printed has a multitude of colors, more than that would be price competitive for screen printing.
